Com o atual surto mundial de Covid-19, não há dúvida de que o mundo caminha por um grande momento de mudança e transformação. Com a Indústria do Turismo sendo um dos setores mais afetados, cada passo que damos é crucial para o nosso futuro.

À medida que o número de casos aumenta em Moçambique e no mundo, usamos esse tempo para aprender, mudar e transformar. Tempos incertos atraem pânico e angústia, no entanto, escolhemos ser os pioneiros em nossa região, apresentando nossa equipe à uma nova forma de hospitalidade durante a pandemia. Com o início do verão no Hemisfério Norte, este seria o momento em que o Hotel Omuhipiti ficaria cheio de turistas de todas as nacionalidades e cantos do mundo. Sentimos muita falta de tal atividade e esperamos por dias melhores para todos.

Agora optamos por usar nosso tempo com sabedoria, não apenas para treinar novamente nosso Staff com um rigoroso Protocolo de Biossegurança e Higiene, mas também para melhorar ainda mais os serviços gerais de hospitalidade de nossa equipe. Garantimos que está a ser um momento de imenso aprendizado para todos nós nos últimos meses e estamos extremamente orgulhosos de toda a equipe por colaborar.

O Treinamento no Hotel Omuhipiti, realizado com o objetivo de reciclar as habilidades e o conhecimento técnico dos funcionários, um fórum de treinamento propício à adoção de novos conteúdos, tendência atual no Setor Hoteleiro. O treinamento foi planificado e realizado com a equipe do restaurante, bar, recepção e andares. Além da prática operacional do hotel, recepção, atendimento, higiene, postura e execução de diversos serviços. Destacou-se significativamente a necessidade de observar e praticar rigorosamente medidas preventivas contra o novo Corona Vírus.

Além disso, aspectos que enfatizaram muito esse processo de treinamento incluíram: - Valorizar o serviço prestado, - Observar os detalhes que fazem a diferença e, acima de tudo - Ser honesto.

“Assim como atletas, músicos e mais artistas e profissionais de diferentes áreas de atividade, profissionais de hospitalidade também precisam melhorar continuamente suas habilidades, adaptando-se às atualizações".

Using our Time Wisely - Hotel Omuhipiti

With the current worldwide Covid-19 outbreak, it is of no doubt that the world has hit a major time of change and transformation. With the Tourism Industry being one of the majorly affected sectors, every step we take is crucial to our future.

As the number of cases rise in Mozambique and Worldwide, we use this time to learn, to change and to transform. Such uncertain times call for panic and distress however, we choose to be the pioneers in our region introducing our staff to a new form of hospitality during this pandemic. With the summer kicking off in the Northern Hemisphere, this would be a time where Hotel Omuhipiti would be filled with tourists from all nationalities and corners of the world. We miss very dearly such activity and hope for better days for all.

We now choose to use our time wisely not only to retrain our staff with a strict Biosafety and Hygiene Protocol but also to further improve our staff’s general hospitality services. We can tell you it has been a major learning curve for us all these past months and we are extremely proud of the whole team for collaborating.

Training at Hotel Omuhipiti, carried out with a view of recycling the skills and technical knowledge of employees, a training forum conducive to the adoption of new content that is the current trend in the Hotel Industry. The training was planned and carried out with the staff of the restaurant, bar, reception and floors. In addition to the hotel operating practice was the reception, care, hygiene, posture and execution of various services. Significantly highlighted throughout was the need to strictly observe and practice preventive measures against the new corona virus.

Furthermore, aspects that much emphasis was placed on this training process included: - Value the service provided, - Observe the details that make the difference and above all - Be honest.

"Just like athletes, musicians and more artists and professionals from different areas of activity, hospitality professionals also need to continuously improve their skills, adapting to updates".

The willingness to put the actions learnt by the employees into practice is notorious, we believe with great certainty that their performance in their work will reflect in many aspects of hospitality.

Hello family, friend, world 🤗 

Welcome to our blog! :) Hotel Omuhipiti, in the local language “Emakhwa”, Omuhipiti is the name of our home island, the Island of Mozambique.

It has been a long time coming since we intended upon opening up a blog and what better time than now to do so! There is so much about our boutique style Hotel, our team, our diverse acitivities and most importantly our island that we would like to show you. It is a great privilege to be situated in a world heritage site. Food, culture, history, architecture, crystal clear waters are among the jewels that the Island of Mozambique has to offer but above all are the people, their kindness and joy. #UNESCOworldheritagesite 

Through this platform is how we will express all of the above so that you and the world can join us in our journey. We hope that with photography and words we can convey the essence of this tiny piece of land and ocean in our wonderful universe.

In this first blogpost I present to you Hotel Omuhipiti, past and present, we have come a long way and it is just the beginning 🙂 First let me show you an amazing short video of Hotel Omuhipiti and the Island. We absolutely love videography!

The process ...

Be ready to be amazed! You see, working in the Island of Mozambique is thrilling to say the least, like any island, we too face challenges and processes of improvising where we have to make do as best as resources permit which is both a hindrance and a blessing. A hindrance because, well, stress! But that is a part of life right? And a blessing because through creative thinking and teamwork we learn various sets of skills that make our job ever more special and satisfactory. It is all about, learning, improvement and REPEAT! 😉

Here we go:

Below are pictures of the hotel before renovations, the images speak for themselves! We had quite a challenge ahead of us... on December 2017 renovations for the new and improved Hotel Omuhipiti began 

We put our heads up and took the step to START.. sometimes that’s the hardest part. 

The hotel then known as “Pousada of the Island of Mozambique”, was built in the beginning of the 60’s. The concept of the architect that designed it was that of mimicking a cruise ship, this was an introduction of a contemporary take on architecture for the Island of Mozambique. It is indeed a marvellous building which is why we wanted to maintain this initial concept and you will see it reflected in the final images of this post. Below, some images the during construction process. 

And finally Hotel Omuhipiti NOW! As you can see we have come a long way and yes we strive upon improvement and this is just the commencement of our process and journey 🙂 Please join us in this journey ✨

Faz muito tempo que tínhamos a intenção de abrir um blog e que momento melhor do que agora para fazê-lo! Há muito sobre o nosso hotel de estilo boutique, nossa equipe, nossas diversas atividades e, o mais importante, nossa ilha que gostaríamos de mostrar a si e ao mundo. É um grande privilégio estar situado em um patrimônio mundial. Gastronomia, cultura, história, arquitetura, águas cristalinas estão entre as jóias que a Ilha de Moçambique oferece, mas acima de tudo estão as pessoas, sua bondade e alegria. #PatrimónioMundialUNESCO  

Por meio desta plataforma, expressaremos os pontos mencionados, para que você e o mundo possam se juntar a nós em nossa jornada. Esperamos que, com a fotografia e a escrita, possamos transmitir a essência deste pequeno pedaço de terra e mar em nosso maravilhoso Universo.

Esteja pronto para se surpreender! Veja bem, trabalhar na ilha de Moçambique é emocionante, para dizer o mínimo, como qualquer ilha, também enfrentamos desafios e processos de improvisação onde temos que fazer o melhor que os recursos permitirem, o que é um obstáculo e uma bênção. Um obstáculo porque, bem, estresse! Mas isso faz parte da vida, certo? E uma bênção porque, através do pensamento criativo e do trabalho em equipe, aprendemos vários conjuntos de habilidades que tornam nosso trabalho cada vez mais especial e satisfatório. É tudo uma questão de aprendizado, aprimoramento e REPEAT! 😉 

Aqui vamos nós: 

Abaixo, fotos do hotel antes da reabilitação, as imagens falam por si! Tínhamos um grande desafio pela frente... e em Dezembro de 2017 as reformas do novo e aprimorado Hotel Omuhipiti começaram 

Levantamos a cabeça e demos o passo para COMEÇAR... às vezes essa é a parte mais difícil.

O hotel, então conhecido como "Pousada da Ilha de Moçambique”, foi construído no início dos anos 60. O conceito do arquiteto que o projetou foi inspirado num navio de cruzeiro; esta foi a introdução de uma visão contemporânea da arquitetura na Ilha de Moçambique. Na verdade, é um edifício maravilhoso e é por isso que quisemos manter esse conceito inicial que o verá refletido nas imagens finais deste post. Abaixo, algumas imagens durante o processo de reconstrução.

E, finalmente, o Hotel Omuhipiti AGORA! Como pode ver, percorremos um longo caminho e sim, buscamos melhorias e este é apenas o começo de nosso processo e jornada 🙂 Por favor, junte-se a nós nessa jornada ✨
