Hello family, friend, world 🤗 

Welcome to our blog! :) Hotel Omuhipiti, in the local language “Emakhwa”, Omuhipiti is the name of our home island, the Island of Mozambique.

It has been a long time coming since we intended upon opening up a blog and what better time than now to do so! There is so much about our boutique style Hotel, our team, our diverse acitivities and most importantly our island that we would like to show you. It is a great privilege to be situated in a world heritage site. Food, culture, history, architecture, crystal clear waters are among the jewels that the Island of Mozambique has to offer but above all are the people, their kindness and joy. #UNESCOworldheritagesite 

Through this platform is how we will express all of the above so that you and the world can join us in our journey. We hope that with photography and words we can convey the essence of this tiny piece of land and ocean in our wonderful universe.

In this first blogpost I present to you Hotel Omuhipiti, past and present, we have come a long way and it is just the beginning 🙂 First let me show you an amazing short video of Hotel Omuhipiti and the Island. We absolutely love videography!

The process ...

Be ready to be amazed! You see, working in the Island of Mozambique is thrilling to say the least, like any island, we too face challenges and processes of improvising where we have to make do as best as resources permit which is both a hindrance and a blessing. A hindrance because, well, stress! But that is a part of life right? And a blessing because through creative thinking and teamwork we learn various sets of skills that make our job ever more special and satisfactory. It is all about, learning, improvement and REPEAT! 😉

Here we go:

Below are pictures of the hotel before renovations, the images speak for themselves! We had quite a challenge ahead of us... on December 2017 renovations for the new and improved Hotel Omuhipiti began 

We put our heads up and took the step to START.. sometimes that’s the hardest part. 

The hotel then known as “Pousada of the Island of Mozambique”, was built in the beginning of the 60’s. The concept of the architect that designed it was that of mimicking a cruise ship, this was an introduction of a contemporary take on architecture for the Island of Mozambique. It is indeed a marvellous building which is why we wanted to maintain this initial concept and you will see it reflected in the final images of this post. Below, some images the during construction process. 

And finally Hotel Omuhipiti NOW! As you can see we have come a long way and yes we strive upon improvement and this is just the commencement of our process and journey 🙂 Please join us in this journey ✨
